Archie Thomas talks about the concept of abolition and its relation to education and radical scholarship in education. He walks us through the conceptual roots of abolition thinking – Black Radical movements and anti-capitalist theories, to scholarship and activism targeting the carceral state, including the ‘hidden carceral curriculum’.  During the Theodore Fink workshop, we heeded the call of those working in abolition and education to think about the difference between schooling systems and education in order to strive for new forms of education that offer potential for liberation and social change.
